Setting Daily Intentions: A 5-Minute Morning Technique

August 3, 2011

Mind, Spirit, Universal Law

Given fact that everything is energy, each of us is like a magnet. And as a magnet, you can cultivate a daily mindset of prosperity that which is magnetic; drawing to you all the good the Universe has in store for you.

So, rather than dreading your return to work on Monday morning and all the anxiety and/or equally destructive default patterns, dare to be deliberate! Be deliberate about the creation of your day by setting positive daily intentions.

How we begin our day sets the tone for the remainder of the day.”

Setting daily intentions is one of the most nourishing ways to begin your day.  When you set a clear intention for your day, it’s as if you are telling the Universe “This is how I envision my day unfolding and you’re cordially invited to meet me here and now.”

Take a look at the video below…

An intention is not a goal or item on our daily to-do list. It is, instead, our soul agreement with the Universe, an expectation, a conscious choice about how we plan to show up, engage, and interact in our life.

When setting our intentions, it’s best to do so in the affirmative. Use positive language and release any old patterns of thinking that people, circumstances, and conditions have the power to harm you. Embrace the fact that nothing and no one can stand between you and the good you dare to radiate outward through your thoughts, visions, feelings, words and expectations.

Here are some additional examples daily intentions:

  • Today…I intend to be fully awake, alert and alive in the present moment.
  • Today…I intend to remain calm in the storm; to stay centered in the midst of all drama.
  • Today…I intend to find something to be grateful for from each and every experience that I encounter – no matter what.
  • Today…I intend to exhibit F-A-I-T-H in the knowing that God is for me and will never forsake me. I Am not alone.
  • Today…I intend to see past my current condition into my future. I see a life full of love, joy, ease, prosperity, and divine perfect health.

Create a vision of the life you want to live one-day-at-a-time.”

Human beings have been given a unique gift that no other species in our world possesses; that is, we have the power to imagine life differently than the way in which we’re currently living it.

Radiate and you will attract.”

Once we set a crystal-clear intentions for your day watch the Universe rise up to meet you at the level in which you radiate.

So, what did you think? Did today’s topic resonate with you? I’d love to read your thoughts. Please take a moment to leave a comment below and as always, if you enjoyed today’s post, please share it on Facebook and Twitter. I appreciate you!

You are so right about this Leigh. I worked with a spiritual life coach a couple years ago and still listen to her CD she gave me and she clearly states this same thing. Some people think they don’t need to set an intention for the day but when you do have a clear intention for that day, you are going to see those things happening in your day more and more.

I also had a girlfriend that she use to say to herself before she left for work that she was going to have all green lights on the way to work. It never failed, she always had those green lights. Just from intending it before leaving.

People shouldn’t knock it until they do this. My days are wonderful because I set my intention every single morning before starting my day. Wonderful message and I love the videos. Keep up the wonderful work.

      My Dear Adrienne,

So glad you stopped by and thank you so kindly. I simply love hearing stories of how people put the LOA into practice, in their daily lives, with fabulous results.

You are so right, we must first set the intention for our success and then trust and have faith that it will be revealed. We must learn to ask ourselves the candid question, “Do I want to live by default or design.” Your future depends on it.

      Enjoy an A-W-E-S-O-M-E week!

Leigh, I love your list of suggestions for our intentions! So many of them hit me right where I live.

I struggle sometimes just to get going in the morning, so the intention to be awake and alert is my favorite. A close second is the one about being calm even in the midst of drama. Love it!

Thanks for all the ways in which you radiate positivity with this blog!

    Hi Leigh,

What a wonderful post to start my weekend with. Your video and message made me smile and it definitely helped me set my intention for this awesome weekend! I most especially loved the definition you stated here: “An intention is not a goal or item on our daily to-do list. It is, instead, our soul agreement with the Universe, an expectation, a conscious choice about how we plan to show up, engage, and interact in our life.” We humans indeed have that unique gift of living a life of our design.

Leigh, I again would like to let you know how I appreciate your sincere videos. You have this gift of really conveying clear and powerful messages. I can really sense that conscious choice and intention of yours to inspire and empower many people. I so believe that more people should know about the power that is already within all of us. It is sad that not many people can see that, but I am glad that people like you have the heart to show them what they’re capable of.

Thank you, Leigh. Here’s to our many awesome days! =)

    Hugs,

Love you list of daily intentions, Leigh, but my favorite has to be to find gratitude in every interaction. I find that if I can be gracious and thankful in any given situation, it becomes that much easier to get through it if it’s difficult.

I truly believe you can find gratitude in almost anything that happens to you. I like the idea of starting the day with this intention.

Thanks for the great information, Leigh!

      Hi Dr. Bob,

So glad you enjoyed the list. It is but a mere sample of how we each can craft our day. Gratitude is one of the highest forms of prayer. ESPECIALLY effective when we are experiencing challenging times. If we can learn to shift our minds in the moment of challenge, from woe-is-me to Thank You, when we are in the eye of the storm, Divine relief is expediently on its way!

    Hi Leigh,
Enjoyed this post! Setting an intention each morning is a great idea, and one a have been forgetting to do! I find that because I do not awake naturally but due to a hungry baby I get immediately drawn into the “what has to be done today’ zone. Using the morning feed time to set my daily intentions is something I can definitely implement starting tomorrow! So thank you for the motivation.
On your list, the intention that most spoke to me was keeping calm in a storm (that is keeping calm during my two year old tantrums, trying to understand her issue rather than scold her for disrupting my life).
And I intend not to take out my frustrations on my husband and kids!

      Hi Rachael,

Many thanks for joining the conversation! As a single mom, I truly understand the demands on your time and patience:D. But, I believe one either lives by default or by design. It sounds as if you are waking up by default. And although I do not fully understand your personal dynamics, I do understand waking up rattled and how it sets the tone for your entire day (and everyone around you:). Try taking a step back, to evaluate how you can take control of the situation. Maybe, getting to bed earlier so that you can set your intention to rise early…before the rest of your household…in order to gain some quite and uninterrupted “me” time in the morning. When things are still and quite, and you have a moment to be one with self and the Universe, your mind is clear to set your intentions for your day to flow easily and effortlessly. This is an example of living by design. Only “You” have the power to say how you are going to show up in your life.

    Hi Leigh,

Your post is certainly apath for preventing the “every day is the same” blues. The idea of making it a goal to live every day with FAITH is something everyone should do before any other. The other goals will naturally spring from this one. Thanks for a nice post.

    Hi Leigh;
Thanks for this great post and energising video.
Usually I spend first half hour or so of the day on autopilot doing daily activity. Tried this setting daily intention thing today. I won’t go so far as to say it made my whole day but it definitely gave it a good start and was well the time. Thank you very much for your insight :)

      Hi Ankesh,

Thanks for joining the conversation here :D . I champion you for your willingness to try something new! Just as with any new thought, practicing the principles that I teach is a process and with each attempt, things only get better. By committing to set pure and positive intentions at the onset of each day, you are retraining your subconscious mind to focus only on what you desire; thereby setting the tone for your day. Wishing you continued success!

      Enjoy an amazing weekend!

Although you say an intention is not a goal, I think you need to have an end goal in mind in order to have the desire to carry out the daily intention in the first place.

What gives you the motivation to set a daily intention? And it comes back to affirmations and having positive affirmations, as you so rightly say.

Your post must resonate with loads of people because most start the day in a negative frame of mind, particularly Monday mornings. Great post – set yourself up for a great day by stating your intentions clearly to yourself – I really find this helps me.

    Thanks Leigh.
